Accessories and Add-ons
Supply Louver/Damper
Reduce airflow volume
Installed behind a supply vent, this accessory helps limit the amount of air entering a room — ideal for spaces that receive more airflow than needed.
Best for: Supply vents with excess airflow
Note: This is not intended to redirect air. Not for use with return vents.
Concealment Louver
Visually conceal the duct opening
This interior louver hides the open duct behind your vent cover without blocking airflow — ideal for installations where the interior of the duct is highly visible.
Best for: Wall and ceiling installs with exposed ductwork
Note: This is a visual-only accessory. It does not restrict or filter airflow.
Air Deflector / Diverter
Guide airflow direction
Available in one- to four-way configurations, the deflector redirects supply vent airflow away from seating areas, furniture, or other sensitive zones.
Best for: Managing where supply air is directed
Note: Not needed for return vents.
Beveled Edge
Smooth, safe floor transitions
A tapered edge added around floor grilles to prevent tripping and improve the visual transition between grille and flooring.
Best for: Floor vent installations
Note: Not typically needed for wall or ceiling vents.
Speaker Cloth Backer
Light concealment, audio-friendly
This breathable fabric backing comes in black or white and subtly conceals the duct while allowing air and sound to pass through.
Best for: Media rooms or minimal aesthetic installs
Note: Not designed to filter fine dust or prevent insects.
Mesh Backer
Block debris and insects
A metal screen mounted behind the grille to prevent larger particles and bugs from entering through outdoor-facing or exposed return vents.
Best for: Return vents with exterior exposure
Note: Will not filter fine dust or allergens.
Solid Backer
Fully block unused vents
This solid insert prevents all airflow, light, and sound. It should only be used when a vent is inactive or sealed off.
Best for: Decorative or decommissioned vents only
Caution: Do not use on active HVAC supply or return vents.
Flat Cover (no frame on back)
Flush fit with zero intrusion
This option skips the standard ¾” inset frame on the back and offers a completely flat back — perfect when duct openings are crooked, shallow, or too tight to accommodate a recessed frame. A practical choice for tricky installs where clearance is minimal in the duct.
Best for: Shallow ducts, misaligned openings, or creative fastener setups
Note: Does not provide the snug fit of a frame insert — make sure your mounting method accounts for that.
Extended Frame (2")
Deep-set duct engagement
A deeper 2” back frame for added duct contact. Useful when the duct opening sits farther from the wall or ceiling face.
Best for: Ceilings or walls with deep-set ducts

Frequently Asked Questions
Are mounting holes necessary?
Usually yes — but it depends
Mounting holes are typically needed for wall or ceiling applications to keep the cover securely in place. For floor vents, they’re optional unless you want to screw the cover down.
Note: If you choose no mounting holes, you’ll need an alternate adhesion method — such as magnets, double-sided tape, or construction adhesive. Keep in mind that our covers are much heavier than standard builder grade vents.
What is the overall size of the cover?
Measured from flange edge to flange edge
The outside dimensions vary based on your duct opening size:
- Up to 4” duct: Add 1.5” total to the duct size (e.g. 4” duct = 5.5” overall)
- 4.5”–13.5” duct: Add 2” total to the duct size (e.g. 10” duct = 12” overall)
- 14”+ duct: Add 2.5” total to the duct size (e.g. 16” duct = 18.5” overall)
What is the depth of the frame on the back?
Depends on vent type
Return vents have a standard ¾” inset frame that sits inside the duct opening. View the diagram here.
Supply vents with dampers have a total depth of approx. 2", including the damper bolt. View diagram here.
Prefer a flat no frame install? Choose the "Flat Cover (no frame on back)" option under Accessories.
