Can your baseboard covers be painted?
Most interior architectural trim is specified with an eggshell or semi-gloss white finish. Because of this, our baseboard heater covers are readily available in only one finish; semi-gloss white.
Our baseboard covers are not actually painted--they're powder coated. A process known as electrostatic powder coating is one of the most effective ways to coat conductive materials like steel. Colored kitchen appliances are a good example of where powder coated finishes can be found. The process involves putting a charge on the galvanzied steel part, then shooting it with a tool that emits the colored powder. The particles of powder are attracted to the charged part. The powder is then cured in an oven that takes only a few minutes. The result is a tough long-lasting finish that looks pristine under full illumination
For our institutional and multi-family unit customers, we will run the product in ANY color as long as it is available in a powder coat form. The minimum order quantity for a custom color is 500 lineal feet of panel. Custom colors carry an additional one time flat fee of $195.
For smaller requirements less than 500 lineal feet, the most common method of achieving a custom color is to apply a coat of paint. Painting can involve either a spray on or roll on application. Using a primer first is always a good idea, but is not an absolute requirement for ensuring a satisfactory "stick" to the factory finish. Note: the 1/8" diameter holes on all baseboard cover panels will NOT be clogged up by paint. Also, special high-heat paint is not required for hot water baseboard heaters-but if you're planning on painting electric heaters you will want to use caution and check with the manufacturers guidelines first.
